Government has made assurance that the envisaged factory for manufacturing tractors, power tillers and warehouses for storing food crops will be implemented as planned.
Polish government issued a loan for the project amounting to 110 million US dollars.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of
Industries, Trade and Investment, Dr Adelhelm Meru, disclosed the
assistance in Dar es Salaam yesterday when he met with a team of
investors from Poland in Dar es Salaam.
He noted that the move was in line with
the government’s industrialization drive. “We will improve the
industrial sector in the country and we believe that there are various
investors out there who are willing to grab the opportunities,” he said.
Dr Meru also revealed that a cement
factory to be built in Tanga was expected to employ about 15,000/-
people upon completion. According to the PS, the factory will be built
by investors from China and it will also produce quality tiles.
One of the investors from Poland, Julius
Zellah, said the factory will be built in October and will be situated
in Kibaha. “The returns of the investment will be after 40 years. The
price of tractors will be cheap.
The government of Poland will provide
funds for the project,” he said. He added that the factory would have
eight service centres.
They will provide farm implements.
Producers from Europe will bring modern technology by producing new and
quality products and sell them at affordable prices.
